Smiths chat-up lines?

All about The Smiths' music, gigs, stories, anything.

Postby Cracked Pleasures » Sat Apr 22, 2006 6:59 pm

Despite the Smiths being labelled by some as highly depressing, the music does contain lot of romance. The whole idea of There Is A Light... for example is highly romantic IMO, despite the macabre touch. In fact, when thinking of it, some lines from Smiths classics make excellent chat-up lines...

Give in to lust, give up to lust, heaven knows we'll soon be dust

To die by your say would be a pleasure and privilege

Send me the pillow, the one that you dream on, and I'll send you mine

Let me put my hands on your mammary glands

If there's something you'd like to try, ask me, I won't say no. How could I?

I am human and I need to be loved, just like anybody else does

Romantic, poetic, yet a bit bizarre and mysterious, sometimes with a little humoristic touch... It may just surprise her enough to make it work! :D

Kiss My Shades B)

The sun shines out of out behinds

I dreamt about you last night
And I fell out of bed twice
You can pin and mount me like a butterfly
But "take me to the haven of your bed"

And when the moon begins to shine
I can see that you are mine

Oh, your untouched, unsoiled, wonderous eyes
My life down I shall lie

And when darknesss lifts and the room is bright
I'll still be by your side
For you are all that matters
And I'll love you to till the day I die

No, it's not like any other love
This one is different - because it's us

I'd leap in front of a flying bullet for you

But you won't change the way I feel
'Cause I love you

I won't share you

I'm not sure if you can consider all of them chat-up lines, but they are romantic ... :P;)

They are all beautiful words, some sort of macabre, some possesive but all romantic, Moz truly did understand the totality of love.

I may try it some day if the girl seems not too conservative :)

However, I would refrain from "You're the one for me, Fatty"...

Also nice: if she doesn't react the way you hope, you can use "The more you ignore me, the closer I get" :P

Morrissey is a romantic soul really, it's weird he didn't have lot of attractive girlfriends. Most women seem to like a bit of humor in a man, and Morrissey has the touch for some really romantic lines with a mysterious of ironic side...

That's the essential part of love, isn't it? Feeling privileged to be with a person that you consider unique, feeling your love is different because you're with a unique person.

Que?

What do you mean with 'must duck'? Surely most girls have enough sense of humor to not be insulted by such a line (I hope  )

Maybe also worth a try if the girl is up for a joke:

"I've got explosive eggs between me legs, can you save me?"
