One of the best bands of the Britpop movement has re-united! After 8 years of silence, The Verve are back together. In December, the band has a UK tour to celebrate the reunion, and next year a new album and world tour are planned.

This is exciting news. I never got into the whole Britpop movement but I did like The Verve a lot. It is such a shame people only know Bittersweet Symphony and ignore the rest of the catalogue they have. The Drugs Don't Work, Sonnet, Catching The Butterfly, Slide Away, ... all great songs. I love Richard Ashcroft's voice but never really got into his solo material. It is great to see The Verve back together, and I have high expectations of the new album.

The official website ( has also been renewed!

I'ver never really liked The Verve, I just like one or two of their songs.

Same here really, they are a pretty average band. Sort of like Oasis without the charisma.

Oasis has charisma? Well, seriously, Oasis aren't bad, but I would prefer The Verve anytime. Good lyrics, good vocals, music that is catchy enough without really being commercial at any point... Great band IMO. Bittersweet Symphony was one of my favourite songs when I was a late teenager.

If I had to choose between Oasis and The Verve, I'd choose The Smiths :)

Anyway, both The Verve and Oasis have proved to be great even after their "time". Forth and Dig Out Your Soul were superb albums, they're worth it. Valium Skies (Verve) and The Boy with the Blues (Oasis) may join my list of favourite songs of the past decade.
