Would appreciate a little feedback on this, a rough draft of a college project. World music, Congo, instrumental, shiny guitar, going for a live, rough, upbeat sort of feel.

Oh, this is one sweet little tune, Elko. I like the rhythm - a very rhythmical piece of music, but in a somewhat subtle manner, that's cool , thank you for sharing it with us.

I'm definitely liking the guitar on this, very spanish.
When you said "World music" I thought that this might not be my cup of tea, but this was rather nice, good work.

i'm a fan of world music; there is a drumming group from japan that has some absolutely wonderful tunes.

elko, you little wizard!! what all are you playing on this track?
i like it. the phasing at about 2:28 or so is really nice.

"shiny guitar" nailed that.
"upbeat"....nailed that as well.
and the ending is great.

i'm (quite frankly) more impressed than what i thought i would be.

my only suggestion: if you want congo, then gimme some drums. the drumming seems subdued, overshadowed. some deep "hallow log" drumming would be really nice to hear on that track.

I am speechless. I absolutely enjoyed hearing it. You are truly a bucket of talent. What a great ending, those last 20 seconds or so.
Yes, world music makes me think of percussions, and though it's slightly overshadowed by your wonderful guitar work, I think the steady 'clicking' of the 'sticks' and the 'rumbling' undertones I hear (drums?) is a nice complement to the guitars.

Oh golly gee, thanks!

I posted this on another forum, and it was described as a 'South Arfican shanty band trying to cover 'The Boy With The Thorn In His Side', which I guess is a pretty spot-on observation as to where I nicked it from.

As I say, it's only a rough mix, I'll be sure to up the percussion (and make more use of stereo) before I hand it in.
